The Cornbelt Fire Department performs many community service events outside of answering emergency calls. Below you will find a list of a few community service events held thought the year.
FIRE PREVENTION WEEK OPEN HOUSE
The Cornbelt Fire Department hosts an Open House each year in October during Fire Prevention Week. This event is designed to display department equipment and facilities and to meet the members of the department.
TOURS
The Cornbelt Fire Department has an open-door policy in regard to tours of our facility and equipment. We, as members of this department, provide tours continuously throughout the year. Tours are provided upon request. They are provided to the children attending local day care facilities, after school programs, scout troops, civic organizations, church groups, and the public.
CAREER DAYS
We work with the school district and other educational institutions to provide students with information regarding the type of skills our occupation demands and discuss the different types of equipment that a Firefighter or EMT will use while performing their duties.
FOOTBALL GAMES
The Cornbelt Fire Department provides Emergency Medical Services for all the Mahomet-Seymour High School football home games.
PARADES
The Cornbelt Fire Department participates in several community parades throughout the year. Many are annual events and others are planned for special events happening throughout the year.
RESIDENTIAL KNOX BOX PROGRAM
The Cornbelt Fire Department administers the residential Knox Box program for the Village of Mahomet and the surrounding community. This program provides a residential Knox Box to individuals within the fire district that have severe medical difficulties. This “lock box” system stores a key to your residence and allows only the Fire Department to have access to the home if there is a medical emergency and the resident is unable to open the door for us to reach you and provide you with medical assistance.
BUSINESS KNOX BOX PROGRAM
The Cornbelt Fire Department administers the business Knox Box program for the Village of Mahomet and the surrounding community. The Cornbelt Fire Department does have an ordinance requiring all business occupancies and multi-family occupancies to install a Knox Box.
