Description

The Cornbelt Fire Department Firefighter Development Program (FDP) was established to progress the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to become a vital part of our department in a paid-on call / part time role or to develop into a full-time career with the Cornbelt Fire Department. All Firefighter Development Program personnel are considered as active members of the fire department and will be expected to perform as Cornbelt firefighters with a high level of care, compassion and professionalism. The program is designed for those in school or with other jobs and have a desire to serve their community in a paid-on call / part time manner or to transition into a full-time firefighting.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of interview
  • High school diploma, or equivalent
  • Must live within the Cornbelt Fire Protection District boundary
  • Must be able to pass background check.
  • Must be able to attend evening training sessions (four (4) per month) and work periodic 12-hour shifts as assigned during probationary period.
  •  Those desiring to transition to full time opportunities must work one 24-hour shift as assigned after completion of the probationary period.
  • Program Length: 12 months
